Stability of Parallel Server Systems

چکیده
A parallel server system is a queueing in which jobs are routed upon their arrivals to one of several buffers, each handled by different server. The main operational and theoretical problem such systems find an efficient routing policy that maximizes throughput (or minimizes waiting times). paper “Stability Parallel Server Systems” considers large class policies, includes the most prevalent policies studies literature, under assumption errors may occur because ofincomplete information about state at decision epochs. stability region for this studied as function error probability, it shown standard condition, namely, traffic intensity smaller than one, does not guarantee stable.

Stability analysis of parallel server systems under longest queue first
We consider the stability of parallel server systems under the longest queue first (LQF) rule. We show that when the underlying graph of a parallel server system is a tree, the standard nominal traffic condition is sufficient for the stability of that system under LQF when interarrival and service times have general distributions. Then we consider a special parallel server system, which is know...

State Space Collapse in Many-Server Diffusion Limits of Parallel Server Systems
We consider a class of queueing systems that consist of server pools in parallel and multiple customer classes. Customer service times are assumed to be exponentially distributed. We study the asymptotic behavior of these queueing systems in a heavy traffic regime that is known as the Halfin and Whitt many-server asymptotic regime. Our main contribution is a general framework for establishing s...
متن کاملAgeing Orders of Series-Parallel and Parallel-Series Systems with Independent Subsystems Consisting of Dependent Components
In this paper, we consider series-parallel and parallel-series systems with independent subsystems consisting of dependent homogeneous components whose joint lifetimes are modeled by an Archimedean copula. Then, by considering two such systems with different numbers of components within each subsystem, we establish hazard rate and reversed hazard rate orderings between the two system lifetimes,...
متن کاملServer-side scheduling in cluster parallel I/O systems
Parallel I/O has become a necessity in the face of performance improvements in other areas of computing systems. Studies have shown that peak performance is infrequently realized, and work in parallel I/O optimization strives to achieve peak performance for applications. In this paper we revisit one area of performance optimization in parallel I/O, that of server-side scheduling of service. Wit...
